Finding inspiration and making it happen: The Intriguing Interplay

In this blog post, I'll delve into the dual aspects of ideation: first, the process of generating ideas, and second, the crucial step of bringing those ideas to fruition.

Pairing Ideas and Creative Escape: The Art of Ideation

During my younger years as an Art Director, a vivid memory stands out. It was right after a client presentation, and the news I had to convey to my team was far from ideal: the client was dissatisfied with the direction we had taken, and a course correction was necessary. Now, here's where things get interesting. In the midst of that evening's brainstorming session, a pivotal idea emerged from my then Creative Director. He proposed an unconventional approach: drawing inspiration from disparate industries and pairing their concepts together.

For instance, he suggested something intriguing. What if we brought together the ingenuity of the fashion industry and the practical world of cars? Imagine infusing automotive themes into our design, just like fashion elements are woven into fabric. And what if the dynamics of the Telecommunication industry could spark a captivating idea for the client? Now, it's important to note that not all of these pairings yielded successful results. But you know what? This experience taught me something invaluable—a lesson in escaping the constraints of our familiar thought patterns. This approach breathed some freshness into our ideation process and creative output.

Rethinking the Rubik's Cube: A New Perspective

Now, let's switch gears a bit. For this poster, my objective was clear: I aimed to make it stand out with a fresh perspective on the Rubik’s Cube. Unlike its usual portrayal with both hands, I sought to flip this notion and present it in a new light. But how did I get there?

Exploring Possibilities: The Fusion of Simplicity and Innovation

As I explored different sports objects for ideas, I stumbled upon a basketball spinning gracefully on a single finger. The elegance and motion it conveyed struck a chord with me. It deviated from the ordinary and added a distinctive flair. Imagine the basketball defying gravity on that lone finger. That was the essence I wanted for the Rubik's Cube—to transcend its typical appearance. This concept perfectly encapsulated the distinct vibe I wanted for the poster. Merging these two realms, my goal was to showcase the Rubik’s Cube in an entirely fresh manner, invoking curiosity and wonder in anyone who lays eyes on it.

Crafting Ideas into Reality: Where Magic and Practicality Meet

Now, back to the brainstorming session and to the second part of this article. After our brainstorming session, as ideas poured in, we began to sort them out. Here's where the rubber meets the road. We looked at things like how much time each idea would take, our tight budget (which was pretty much zero), favors that we could ask from our bank of suppliers, and of course, stock images! Why, you ask? Well, we were narrowing down our options, trying to figure out how to make these ideas happen. After all, not every project comes with a big budget.

Simplicity's Hidden Power: Unveiling Transformative Ideas

But guess what? Sometimes, you stumble upon an idea that's so simple and doable, you wonder why you didn't think of it first. And that's what happened here. Everything just clicked—suspending the cube, choosing the outfits, getting the right expression from the model. And the best part? All I needed to buy was some thread!

In Conclusion: Where Magic Shines Bright

And there you have it! Cool things often happen when creativity and practicality meet. It's like mixing different ingredients to cook up something amazing. Remember, not everything will work perfectly, and that's part of the fun! Even simple stuff can be super powerful. Combining different industries, trends, or objects can give us amazing new ideas. So, keep this in mind: the spot where ideas come together is where the real magic shines—it's where we get creative, challenge ourselves, and discover new things!
